Manhattan Beach Middle School received a $22,600 donation from the Shade Hotel on Thursday. The money comes from the fund raised at the Shade's annual Ultimate Wine Festival in April.
Shade Owner Michael Zislis was on hand to present the check to MBMS Principal John Jackson and Superintendent Michael Matthews. After the check presentation three longtime teachers at MBMS announced their retirement.
Ro Schreiner, who teaches social sciences and history; Doris Giambra, who teaches Spanish; and Nancy Stansbury, who teaches sixth-grade humanities, were all recognized for their their service to the school and the community.

The teachers were at school 52, 48 and 22 years, respectively.
