What Are Your Go-To Online Family Resources?

Cutting through the Internet clutter can be tough. Here are some of the best resource guides for Los Angeles moms and families.

It can be hard to cut through the clutter on the Internet and find sites that are actually worth your time exploring. Here are some of my favorite online resources for families. A few are specific to Los Angeles, and the rest are national sites, but well worth exploring. I hope these will give you some great ideas for things to do with your kids, or at least  provide you with useful information.

Local Resources:

Find out what's happening in Manhattan Beachwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Culture Vulture: Local  newsletter of kid-appropriate cultural activities.

Kids Off the Couch: Cool ideas of films to watch and then outings to take which coincide with the movies! Get the kids off the couch.

Peachhead:  This newsletter has a weekly listing of events for families.
 
Macaroni Kids: Another newsletter which includes family-friendly fare. You can sign up for your specific city’s edition.

Guru Mommy: A weekly newsletter highlighting great places to go with kids in L.A., as well as links to hot parenting topics.

Consumer Reports: This site requires a fee, but is a great resource when you are buying a car or appliance.

Cool Mom Picks:  Fun gear picks for you and your family.

The Good Guide: This guide rates the toxicity of food, personal care products and toys.
 
Greenopia: An L.A. guide to all things green.

Common Sense Media: An amazing family resource, as it reviews movies and games for kids.

Travel:

Poshbrood: This site lists and rates family-friendly destinations.

Food:

Weelicious: Fast, easy, fresh foods for families.
 
Gastrokid: Feeding the foodie family in a fast food world.

Book Blogs:
