Beckers Bakery Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Sunday

The popular bakery downtown will donate 20 percent of the day's sales to breast cancer research and programs. Better yet, who can resist any of Beckers' baked goods done in pink?

Beckers Bakery is going pink on Sunday to raise money for breast cancer research and programs. Baker/owner Todd Becker plans to donate 20 percent of the day's sales to the cause to help celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“It’s going to be a fun day in the bakery,” said Becker. “You’ll walk in and just be hit with a wall of pink. We’ll be serving pink cake to everyone who comes in, the employees will be wearing pink, and, of course, we’re hoping that everyone buys some pink cookies and cupcakes so we can raise a lot of money too.”

Becker, a Manhattan Beach resident, will have everything in his bakery cases decorated in pink frosting, icing and sprinkles Sunday.

“The crew is excited about this," he said. "We hope it brings lots of people in and this can become an annual thing.”

Becker and the rest of his decorating team are looking forward to the challenge of a “pink-only” day, and are coming up with fun ideas to make the decorating of the day's treats special and unique.

Known for delicious cakes and cookies, and vibrantly colorful confections, Beckers Bakery’s signature style is whimsical, colorful cakes and cupcakes, piled with mounds of sweet frosting, and cookies cut into the shapes of fish, surfboards, and the occasional Cookie Monster.

Beckers Bakery is located at 1025 Manhattan Avenue in downtown Manhattan Beach. On Sunday, they will be open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.
