Robinson Travel Moves From Manhattan Beach

The well-known travel business' staff is now at work in Palos Verdes Estates. Find out why.

Robinson Travel has been sold to TravelStore and is now Robinson TravelStore, said former Robinson Travel owner Barbara Matles, an MB resident.

Near the end of June, Robinson Travel closed its Manhattan Beach office at 505 North Sepulveda Boulevard.

"Change is good," she told Manhattan Beach Patch, saying that she took her four-person staff to TravelStore's Palos Verdes Estates office to join its force of some 20 employees. TravelStore has nine offices in California.

"It [the new arrangement] is better for my employees," she said. "It's a good business decision and I can offer people a lot more [travel options] now."

Robinson Travel opened in Manhattan Beach in 1977, and since 1982, Matles had owned the business with Cheryl Robinson who died in 2000.

The MB resident, who is also active in the Rotary Club of Manhattan Beach, said she is ready to drive to clients' homes if traveling to PVE isn't on their agenda.

Matles can be reached on her direct line at 310-750-9406. Clients should be able to reach Robinson TravelStore by calling Robinson's previous MB phone number at 310-379-2495. That phone number should be good for a year, she said.
