Make A Thanksgiving Clothespin Turkey

Plan ahead and have something ready for the kids to do on a rainy day for or on Thanksgiving. Use clothespins and coffee filters to help kids make these crafty turkeys.

Here's a fun project to keep kids occupied on a wet weather day or while the adults are cooking Thanksgiving dinner. Note that you'll need at least one adult to be in charge of the hot glue gun.

You'll need

  • Coffee filters
  • Red pipe cleaners
  • Black beans
  • Clothespins
  • Paint
  • Stapler
  • Hot glue

Instructions

  1. Paint the edges of a coffee filter red. Fold it in half and staple the ends together. These are the turkey's feathers. If desired, paint the rest of the coffee filter in fall colors like brown, orange and yellow.
  2. Glue two black beans to the top of the clothespin to make the turkey's eyes, and bend part of a pipe cleaner in half and glue it to the clothespin below the eyes to make the gizzard.
  3. Glue the clothespin onto the coffee filter, with the bottom slightly offset to form the turkey's feet.
