Local Companies Join Forces with New Super-Premium Pet Food Company FreeHand™ and Rescue Organizations Used Pets and Grey Save in Mission to Save Local Homeless Dogs’ Lives

SOUTH BAY, CA, Nov. XX, 2012 – Since opening in the South Bay area, Animal Medical Group,   AMG A Pet Resort and Camp Run-A-Mutt’s commitment to community service has been an integral part of their business strategy.   AMG and Camp Run-A-Mutt announced today they are the first in the region to sell FreeHand™ super-premium dog food and introduce its novel buy-one-give-one business model created around a mission to save homeless dogs’ lives.

The concept is simple: For every pound of dog food sold through AMG and Camp Run-A-Mutt, FreeHand will donate an equal amount of premium-quality food to Used Pets and Grey Save .

“AMG was immediately drawn to FreeHand and its mission after learning that a dog food company had a business model similar to TOMS Shoes and a mission to save dogs’ lives,” said  David Nielsen, DVM and owner of Animal Medical Group and AMG A Pet Resort. “I feed my two dogs FreeHand food because it has the best nutrition and doesn’t cut costs on the ingredients,” he added.   “After discovering that FreeHand super-premium pet foods are made from the highest quality ingredients and contain no wheat, corn or soy, we proudly stock, sell and promote FreeHand super-premium dog foods and their mission to all our clients,”  said Adele Kaufman, owner of Camp Run-A-Mutt.

What makes FreeHand’s pound for pound, scoop for scoop, meal for meal program unique is its local focus.  Donated food stays in the communities where it is bought.  Just as AMG chose Used Pets, and Camp Run-A-Mutt chose Grey Save to receive donated food, participating resellers (retail stores and ancillary services like dog groomers, daycare, sitters and walkers – and veterinarians) across the country designate recipients from a list of local rescue groups and shelters screened and approved by FreeHand.  Online purchasers select recipient organizations from a pre-approved list provided at checkout.  Importantly, all recipient groups must adhere to strict criteria set by FreeHand to ensure the humane treatment of the animals in their care.

“When people learn about our cause and how easy it is to be part of this growing, socially conscious movement that benefits their own communities directly, they want to get involved.  As a result, the program is spreading like wildfire,” said FreeHand Co-founder and Managing Director Tom Bagamane. “We are delighted to add our latest South Bay partners to FreeHand’s growing number of enthusiastic resellers and rescue organizations that are embracing our mission to save homeless dogs’ lives across the U.S.”

Rescue organizations such as Used Pets and Grey Save benefit significantly from the food donations. Dog food is one of their biggest costs, so FreeHand’s pound for pound, scoop for scoop, meal for meal enables these organizations to reallocate funds from food budgets to support other critical services like offsite adoptions, vaccinating, micro-chipping and providing medical care for the animals, community outreach and education, and spaying and neutering.

FreeHand is the first model of its kind in the pet food industry that matches each purchase pound for pound, scoop for scoop, meal for meal.  “The impact is tremendous,” Bagamane asserted.  “Since our June launch, FreeHand – through our resellers – has supplied more than 16,000 pounds, or 46,000 meals, to homeless dogs in our U.S. market areas.  Consumers can choose from many dog food brands, but no other product has our mission of saving dogs’ lives. We’re passionate about this mission and thrilled with the impact we are seeing in such a short time.

“These food donations buy more time for rescue dogs to find loving homes. Our ultimate goal is to see an end to euthanasia as a means of reducing shelter overcrowding,” Bagamane emphasized.

“Our unique ‘Communal Business Model’ sets us apart from other pet food companies,” Bagamane noted, adding that FreeHand’s success and its mission of saving dogs’ lives depends on the selfless support and generous concessions from its business partners, food manufacturer and other vendors, employees and the FreeHand Corps (FHC). About FreeHand

Based in Dallas and Los Angeles, FreeHand™ is a super-premium pet food company committed to “conscious consumerism” and saving homeless dogs’ lives. What differentiates FreeHand from the “competition”: (1) it is the only pet food company whose strategy was conceived entirely out of “product activism,” specifically a mission of saving dogs’ lives; (2) the superior quality of FreeHand’s super-premium pet foods; and (3) the company’s innovative “Communal Business Model” – including “The New Bottom Line” – that drives and directs its efforts.

The company’s pound for pound, scoop for scoop, meal for meal donation program is facilitated through a novel, buy-one-give-one initiative in which for every pound of dog food sold, FreeHand – through its resellers (retail stores and ancillary pet service providers such as dog groomers, daycare, sitters and walkers) and veterinarians – will give an equal amount of food to a local rescue organization or shelter. FreeHand products are available for purchase online and at independent resellers in the Southern California, Austin, Dallas-Fort Worth, Indianapolis and Las Vegas areas with plans to expand to additional markets soon.
