The national Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is a government agency whose reach goes from the surface of the sun to the depths of the ocean floor. NOAA’s National Weather Service is the sole official voice of the U.S. government for issuing warning during life-threatening weather situations. The National Weather Storm Spotter program is a volunteer organization of people interested in weather. Whenever significant weather is occurring, weather spotters call in a report to the National Weather Service.
