Break-In, Fire Attempt at Manhattan Beach Middle School
Police and fire have responded to an incident at Manhattan Beach Middle School.
A break-in and attempted start of a fire in a classroom at Manhattan Beach Middle School are being investigated, said a fire department official Monday morning.
The break-in and attempted fire apparently happened during the week-long Thanksgiving holiday recess, said Frank Chiella, Battalion Chief with the Manhattan Beach Fire Department. Police and fire investigators are currently on the scene.
Chiella said damage was minimal. The break-in and attempted fire were discovered Monday when school was being re-opened after the holiday break.
Investigators so far do not think the attempted fire is related to the fires recently set on the campus of Robinson Elementary School.
