Man Exposes Himself to School Employee

The Friday incident occurred off school grounds. Two suspects are still at large.

An unidentified man in a truck exposed himself to a woman walking along Grandview Avenue near 24th Street on Friday, while a male passenger looked on, according to police.

At approximately 10:30am, a health assistant at Grand View Elementary School was on her way to work when she noticed a newer model, white Toyota pick-up truck driving slowly toward her. In the truck, were a driver and passenger, both white males of unidentifiable age. As the truck got closer, the driver exposed himself to the woman, at which time she fled the scene and called the police.

Carolyn Seaton, executive director of educational services for the Manhattan Beach School District, said today that she is "very thankful that this incident occurred off of the school campus and did not involve any students."

"We are also appreciative of the Manhattan Beach Police Department's quick response," she added, urging residents to "stay alert and keep an eye out for these perpetrators so they can be apprehended by the police before they attempt this crime again."

The driver of the truck is described by police as a 5'10" white male, weighing  160-170 pounds with long "salt and pepper" hair. On Friday, he was wearing a black or gray sweatshirt, blue jeans with a rip in the right knee and reading glasses. His hair was worn in a pony tail.

The passenger was a 5'10" white male, weighing 150-160 pounds, with short dirty-blond hair, blue eyes and an unshaven face. He wore a long-sleeve navy blue T-shirt.

The white truck the men were driving in was a newer model—possibly a Toyota Tacoma—with black rubber side panels and a black bed liner. The victim remembered the last three numbers of the truck's license plate as "684."

Anyone with information on the possible identification of the suspects is encouraged to call Detective Sergeant Brian Brown (310-802-5123) or Officer Stephanie Martin (310-802-5186) of the Manhattan Beach Police Department.
