Jail Tour, Jaws of Life Popular at Open House

For the first time since 2010, the Manhattan Beach police and fire departments held their popular open house to recognize National Peace Officers' Week and Fire Service Day. The kids had fun and learned a lot, and so did the adults. Here's the video.

Following Saturday morning's 5th Annual Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony, Manhattan Beach's police and fire departments officially reinstated their open house after having taken a year off.

Lots of equipment and vehicles were on display, but the biggest draws of the day were the jail tour and demo in which MB firefighters/paramedics cut through a vehicle to extract passengers.

"It's a wonderful opportunity for the community to see what our police department and fire department do, as well as to remember those who have served our community," said Mayor Pro Tem David Lesser.
