Update: Elderly Manhattan Beach Woman Killed in Collision with Motorcyclist

Manhattan Beach Patch will provide updates as we get them.

An 86-year-old Manhattan Beach resident was identified as the pedestrian struck and killed by a motorcyclist heading north on Sepulveda Boulevard Tuesday around 5:25 a.m., said police. The motorcyclist, a 41-year-old Torrance man, was pronounced dead at the scene, as well.

Authorities were en route to notify relatives of the deceased, whose bodies remained on the boulevard, a white sheet draped over their bodies, a blue tarp erected to protect each from the elements, during the investigation and until the coroner arrived, said Officer Stephanie Martin of the Manhattan Beach Police Department.

The crash occurred near Eighth Street, prompting authorities to close Sepulveda Boulevard in both directions, said Martin.

She updated earlier comments to say officials do not know if the woman was in an unmarked crosswalk or not at the time of impact.

Martin said she expects Sepulveda to remain closed from Second Street to Manhattan Beach Boulevard until 1 or 2 p.m. as investigators piece together evidence and details and crews clear debris form the road.

Stay tuned for updates.
