Local businesses, volunteers and police staff will be recognized for service. City Centennial Committee asks for $169,603 from city coffers to cover direct labor costs of centennial events in 2012.

A projection of costs the city will need to pick up for 2012's Centennial events will be presented to City Council for discussions and direction at the Tuesday, Dec. 20 6:30 p.m. City Council meeting. The committee's initial projections total $169,603 for direct labor costs.

The same agenda item asks that Council decide whether or not $10,000 the city handed over to the committee as "seed" money is a loan or a gift. Debate on the subject has raged for months among some residents.

Other matters at the meeting will include honoring local businesses, staff, and volunteers.
