Neighbor Talk: What Would You Do?

Neighbors affect our lives. How do we get what we want, do the right thing and remain friendly when adverse situations arise?

A neighbor who lives behind my house [we share a backyard fence] had the one-story roof portion of the residence re-shingled by a roofing company on a Saturday and Sunday.

As I understand city construction laws, residential work can only be done Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In any case, I wanted to sleep in on the particular Sunday the roof work was being done and was awakened to the sound of hammers on the roof around 7:30 a.m.

What would you have done?

P.S. When I went over to the home, our neighbor wasn't home and they roof company's foreman told me had a city permit, didn't know he couldn't perform work on Sunday and would be done soon. It was another three to four hours before the work was completed.
