Manhattan Beach youth beach volleyball players dominated the 20th Amateur Athletic Union Junior Beach Volleyball National Championships held in Hermosa Beach over the weekend.
Seventeen locals earned a gold, silver or bronze medal.
Grant Chalmers and Riley Mallon took first place in the 18 and under boys division and Matt Reilly and Ian Schwan took third place; Katie Barkley took gold with her San Clemente partner Camille Davey in the 16 and under girls division while Emma Smith took a bronze medal; Dane Johnson partnered with Hermosa Beach player Luke Grafton for a first place finish in the 14 and under boys division; Leah Kelly, Sophia Cole and Madison Mcgrail received medals in the 10 and under girls division; Lindsey Kelly earned a silver medal in the 12 and under girls division; Presley Forbes and Sunny Villapando partnered for a bronze medal in the 14 and under girls division; Will Campbell, Lauch Farris and Will Bond earned medals in the 12 and under boys division, and Casey McGarry took a silver medal in the 16 and under boys division, according to the AAU website.
All who register to play in an AAU tournament must be an AAU member.
