Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Manhattan Beach Patch surf report. Well, there's no shortage of surf, but unfortunately the conditions are pretty chewed up from the start.
We're already seeing bump or light chop on the water, due to the variable west wind. We've got a continued mix of swells in the water. There's mainly modest west northwest swell and some smaller south southwesterly energy.
That recipe is giving us some fast bump and dumpy lines, with maybe a few pick and choose corners. Most spots in Manhattan Beach spots are running about chest to head high, with the top breaks pulling overhead waves, with those sets going a bit bigger.

Taking a look at those tides...at 9:37 this morning it drops to a 0.1 low which will have many beaches needing water mid-morning. The tide then pushes back up to a 3.1 high at 4:51 this afternoon, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
If you're planning on paddling, throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit or a 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 58 degrees. See ya in the water!

FYI...The county health department urges surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean after rain for at least 72 hours due to urban runoff, especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
