Get Out to Surf, the Earlier, the Better

Those conditions could worsen throughout the day!

Waking up with the waves on Monday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Manhattan Beach Patch surf report. Well, there's definitely some decent size surf out there from this latest storm, but don't be surprised if those conditions take a turn for the worse.

The conditions are fairly-clean from the start, with some spots seeing some texture or light bump on it. We've got a combination of mostly southerly windswell and some west northwest energy in the water.

That recipe is providing some racy sectiony lines, with a few good wedgy shoulders to grab. Most spots in Manhattan Beach are running about waist to shoulder high, with the top combo breaks pulling some head high waves, with maybe a few plus sets.

At 5:07 early this morning the tide drained out to a negative 0.8 low which will have many spots needing water early on. The tide then pushes back up to a 4.7 high at 11:16 a.m and then drops once again to a 0.5 low at 4:56 this afternoon, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association.

If you're going to get wet, throw on a 4/3 fullsuit and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 58 degrees. Good luck out there!

FYI...County health officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to the likelihood of increased bacteria levels, especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
