Knee to Stomach High Surf in Manhattan Beach

The energy continues to ease but there are waves to catch.

Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Manhattan Beach Patch surf  report. Well, there's still a decent dose of energy, but it's continuing to fade away. The top combo breaks are offering some playful size waves!

It's mostly clean early on, with a mixture of mainly dropping west northwest swell and some smaller northwest energy in the water.

That recipe is offering some fast semi-wally lines, with some workable shoulders to snag. Most Manhattan Beach spots are running about knee to stomach high, with the focal points pulling some chest high plus sets.

At 7 this morning the tide drained out to a negative 0.5 low which will have many spots lacking water early to mid-morning. The tide then climbs back up to a 3.5 high at 1:18 this afternoon, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association.

If you're planning on paddling, you'll want to wear at least a 3/2 fullsuit or a 4/3 and possibly the booties, with the water temperature hanging between 56 and 57 degrees. See ya in the water!

FYI...County health officials urge surfers and swimmers to stay out of the ocean for at least 72 hours after a rain due to the possibility of increased bacteria levels especially near river mouths, storm drains and harbor entrances.
