Small, Playful Surf Still Out There

Get in the water between 9 a.m. and noon for best surfing.

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Manhattan Beach Patch surf report. Well, we're looking at similar size out there. Basically, it's continuing to hang in that small to playful size range just about everywhere.

We have some pretty clean and glassy conditions early on, with a combination of mostly lingering northwest windswell and just a hint of south southwest energy underneath it.

That recipe is offering this stretch of sand with some fairly soft sectiony lines, with a few fast shoulders. Most spots in Manhattan Beach are running about knee to waist high plus, with the focal points pulling stomach high waves, with a few plus sets.

Checking those tides thanks to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, at 7:49 this morning it climbs way up to a 5.0 high, which is going to have some spots pretty swamped and slow mid-morning. If you can wait for that tide to drop a bit, your best bet is to then get it before it eventually drains out to a 0.0 low at 1:56 this afternoon.

If you're going to grab a session, throw on at least a 3/2 fullsuit and possibly the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees. See ya in the water!
