Surf N' Turf Event Brings Out Surfing and Volleyball Enthusiasts for a Day of Fun in the Sun
Surfing and volleyball enthusiasts hit the beach for the 2nd Annual Dig 4 Jimmy Surf N' Turf competition.
Spectators watched as teams surfed waves and spiked volleyballs along the south side of the Manhattan Beach Pier on Sunday.
A year ago, local surfing aficionado Kevin Barry wanted to create an event combining the best of beach sports: surfing and volleyball. What resulted was the very successful Dig 4 Jimmy Surf N' Turf–a competition that brings awareness to local nonprofits Dig 4 Kids and the Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation.
Sunday's second annual event kicked off at 8 a.m. with the surfing competition. Volleyball began shortly after at 10 a.m. to the tunes of live Polynesian music and hula dancing.

"We're just really excited to have this great of a turnout today, and really excited to share these two foundations with everybody," said Barry.
Best surf team, best volleyball team and best overall team received their awards at the Sangria after-party in Hermosa Beach.
