Neptunian Women Celebrate Centennial

The Neptunian Woman's Club of Manhattan Beach, which is 102 years old, holds a gala to celebrate the city's centennial and raise funds for local schools and children's charities.

On Saturday, Jan. 14, the Neptunian Woman's Club of Manhattan Beach celebrated the city's centennial with a fundraising party in support of local schools and children's charities. The club welcomed city leaders, club members and other guests for an evening of food, drinks and dancing.

Attendees had an opportunity to participate in a silent auction and a special chance to win a trip to the Galapagos Islands. Music was provided by the local band Feed the Kitty, interior design by Choura Events, catering from Salt Creek Grille, Nothing Bundt Cakes and Home.

According to the Neptunian Woman's Club's website, "In 1909, when Manhattan Beach was home to only 600 people, ten women came together and had an immediate impact on the town. Before they even had the ability to cast a vote, these women were the force behind Manhattan Beach becoming a city. They were determined to create their own school district and their own fire and police departments.
