Tis the season for holiday package theft so be sure to not left crooks steal your delivered packages.

Indeed, on Nov. 13, a thief stole a package from the front porch of a home in the 1400 block of Fifth Street around 3:20 p.m., and then returned the item to Target for a gift card, according to a police report.

Last year in December, Manhattan Beach residents had a slew of packages stolen from their front porches.

The U.S. Postal Service offers these tips to help you protect yourself and your packages:

  • Ask a friend or family member to pick up the pending packages.

  • Have packages delivered at your place of work.
  • Do not leave packages out for a lengthy amount of time; pick them up as soon as possible.
