Robinson School to Hold America's Assembly on Wednesday

The annual assembly is held in remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001 and to honor our nation's service men and women.

Students, educators, city officials and community members will gather near the Robinson Elementary School flag poles at 80 Morningside Drive Wednesday, Sept. 11 to honor the remembrance of Sept. 11, 2001 and community members who have served in the military. 

The annual America’s Assembly will take place from 8:45 to 9:15 a.m. and will include a color guard raising of the flag with the assistance of veterans, brief student speeches and musical performances by a Robinson parent and grandfather.

Veterans slated to be honored and in attendance are: Tim Bergin, US Army 1982-1989 (parent of Robinson alumni); Col. John D. Counselman, Jr., a US Marine who served in Desert Storm, Desert Shield and Somalia (grandfather of Robinson students; Jeff Eick, Vietnam veteran and Manhattan Beach resident; Don Engh, 2nd Lieutenant and US Army Air Corps pilot who served in WWII 1943-46 (father of Robinson teacher); Capt. Simon Mattox, Black Hawk pilot who served in Iraq (neighbor of Robinson students), and Maj. Casey Miner of the US Army who served in Kuwait and Afghanistan (father of Meadows Elementary student).
